ECHOES

"Invisible echoes settle over time.
Every moment leaves a trace, even if forgotten.
Layers of life overlap, shaping who we are.
What seems simple holds hidden complexity.
Our present reflects what we have lived,
And shapes what we will become."

There are wounds that do not bleed, but accumulate in layers. They remain invisible, yet shape everything we are. This series emerged from a personal moment of transformation — a difficult period that led me to reflect on my path and recognize how wounds, more than achievements, have carved my identity.

Each canvas is built on the concept of duality: two visual fields that represent the polarities of the human self — what we offer to others and what remains guarded in our inner world.

This dualism is not a contrast, but a coexistence: an imperfect mirror in which the visible and the invisible reflect and influence one another.
The line that separates and connects them becomes a metaphor for the fragile boundary between appearance and truth, between the public self and the inner self.

ECHOES is a meditation on how identity takes shape through the unfolding of events — never pure or perfect — and through our response to them.
Each layer, each stain, each trace of color is an essential part of the final construction. Even what initially seems like a mistake becomes necessary for the balance of the painting. Likewise, it is our contradictions and vulnerabilities that define our authenticity.

My visual research is inspired by the tradition of Colour Field painters — in particular, the emotional depth of Mark Rothko and the intuitive gestures of Helen Frankenthaler and early Pollock — reinterpreted through a more contemplative and personal lens.

I use palette knives of various sizes, my hands, water, and at times cloths to create tactile, unexpected effects. I almost always avoid brushes, favoring a more direct and bodily approach.

Brighter tones emerge on the surface, while darker ones generate depth. The central line is present from the start, but only completed at the end, to bring light and harmony to the whole.

This series invites the viewer to look beyond appearance, to recognize the value of their own complexity, and to embrace every fragment of their journey with awareness.

In an era of image-driven consensus, ECHOES reimagines Rothko’s “gate-way” as a threshold not to transcendence, but to authenticity — a space where personal truth can emerge, unfiltered and unapologetic.
